Senior Software Engineer, Technical Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maine.

📋 Description

• Assume full responsibility for assigned SOW tasks and deliverables, guaranteeing timely delivery, quality execution, and high customer satisfaction.

• Analyze and address technical challenges within the SOW scope by pinpointing root causes and implementing effective solutions while following change management protocols.

• Collect requirements for the development of data pipeline integration (ELT) and data mapping.

• Lead the data discovery process and file requirements gathering.

• Proactively oversee client batch cycle (ETL) processes, ensuring successful execution and quickly addressing failures.

• Automate deployment processes and create tools to monitor system health, reliability, and essential business processes.

• Maintain precise task statuses and communicate progress, risks, issues, and dependencies to internal teams and clients.

• Timely escalate risks and issues, and actively engage in daily standups and team discussions.

• Develop project estimates and collaborate with Project Managers on task planning and allocation.

• Establish and advocate for engineering best practices, technical standards, and consistent methodologies across the Custom Services engineering lane.

• Offer technical mentorship, guidance, and support to fellow engineers.

• Act as a senior technical resource for solution design, architecture, and technical decision-making.

• Collaborate with other leaders to enhance processes, documentation, standards, and tooling.

• Identify and implement enhancements to engineering efficiency, quality, scalability, and consistency.

• Promote knowledge sharing through documentation, reusable solutions, and team learning.

• Work alongside Project Managers, analysts, engineers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful client delivery.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or a similar hands-on technical role.

• Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent professional experience.

• AWS or Snowflake technical certification, such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate or a comparable credential.

• Strong experience in Python development, with a proven history of building production-grade applications, automation, or data solutions.

• Familiarity with other programming or scripting languages like C#, JavaScript, or Go is a plus.

• Proven experience in mentoring and developing fellow engineers via technical guidance, knowledge sharing, code reviews, and ongoing feedback.

• Experience serving as a senior technical resource or technical lead, including influencing solution design, architecture, engineering standards, and technical decision-making.

• A mindset geared towards continuous improvement, with experience in identifying and implementing enhancements to engineering processes, documentation, tooling, or development practices.

• Experience with containerization, orchestration, and cloud technologies such as Docker, ECS, Fargate, Kubernetes, microservices, and message queues.

• Strong Linux or Unix experience.

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices, such as Jenkins or Bitbucket Pipelines.

• Experience with relational and cloud databases like Snowflake, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2.

• Proficiency in designing and integrating with REST APIs, SDKs, and CLI tools.

• Experience handling various data and file formats, including JSON, XML, CSV, and flat files.

• Strong grasp of software engineering, testing, version control, and deployment best practices.

• Demonstrated success in designing and delivering multiple production software applications or data engineering projects.

• Experience using Git, Jira, Confluence, and Slack in an Agile development environment.

• Exposure to NoSQL databases like MongoDB or DynamoDB is a plus.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective interaction with engineers, project managers, analysts, and customers.

• Ability to take ownership of complex technical challenges, operate independently, and assist others in navigating obstacles when the way forward is not immediately clear.
