Senior Software Engineer – Search

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and scale backend services utilizing Java, integrated with OpenSearch.

• Create indexing strategies, schema mappings, and optimized query patterns for extensive datasets.

• Support Workiva’s GenAI and RAG endpoints, facilitating semantic and natural language search capabilities.

• Utilize AWS cloud infrastructure and Kafka event streaming to build scalable systems.

• Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot search infrastructure to ensure performance, reliability, and accuracy.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver search-driven features that address customer requirements.

• Provide mentorship through code reviews, technical guidance, and teamwork.

• Lead clearly defined projects, establish milestones, and enhance team processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Over 2 years of experience in software development or a similar field.

• Proficient in Java or another JVM language (such as Scala or Kotlin).

• Familiarity with search engines like OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, or Solr.

• Strong knowledge of indexing, query optimization, and distributed search performance.

• Practical experience in designing and scaling backend services within a cloud environment (AWS preferred).

• Experience with Kafka or other event streaming technologies.

• Understanding of semantic search, embeddings, or NLP techniques.

• Exposure to AI/ML concepts, particularly in relation to ranking or search relevance.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a remote-first, video-driven environment.
