Senior Software Engineer – Safety Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead the development of prominent, user-focused products aimed at protecting Discord users.

• Design, implement, and deploy production APIs, backend services, and data pipelines for safety features at scale.

• Collaborate with teams across Product, Design, Policy, Data Science, ML, Legal, and Trust & Safety Operations.

• Continuously enhance in-house tools to optimize Trust & Safety workflows.

• Adapt to the dynamic landscape of abuse and compliance.

• Report directly to the Engineering Manager of Safety Experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in Python programming and utilizing back-end API frameworks (Flask, Django).

• More than 5 years of experience in developing front-end interfaces using JavaScript (React, TypeScript) for web and mobile platforms.

• Knowledge of databases such as Cassandra, Postgres, and ScyllaDB.

• Proven track record of successfully leading the end-to-end delivery of complex projects.

• Capability to troubleshoot, debug, and test sophisticated systems in a live production environment.

• Outstanding communication and collaboration abilities.

• Experience leveraging metrics and dashboards to make data-driven decisions and create insightful reports.

• Background in Safety or Anti-Abuse domains is an advantage.

• Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools like Datadog or Mode is a plus.

• Understanding of real-time streaming systems such as Kafka or Pub-Sub is a bonus.

• Ability to contribute to offline analytics jobs and processes is an added advantage.

• Experience in building and managing mobile-client features on iOS and Android is beneficial.

• Exposure to programming languages such as Go, Rust, and Elixir is a plus.
