This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
β’ Create and develop highly efficient, scalable, and resilient microservices from the ground up utilizing PostgreSQL and AWS.
β’ Utilize Rust as the main programming language, while incorporating Go and Python for particular services or data tasks.
β’ Construct robust APIs leveraging gRPC and REST for mobile and web development teams.
β’ Incorporate Claude Code into the daily GitHub and development processes.
β’ Implement best practices for type safety, concurrency, and extensive test coverage in distributed systems.
β’ Deliver backend services, API specifications, and architectural direction to mobile and web teams.
β’ Assume responsibility for core services and domains within the global online learning platform.
β’ Engage in cross-functional collaboration within an agile, parallel engineering setting.
β’ Mentor colleagues and coordinate with parallel engineering teams.
β’ Over 5 years of professional experience in backend development.
β’ Demonstrated success with microservices and relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
β’ Strong experience in Rust, including familiarity with the ownership model, lifetimes, and the async ecosystem like Tokio.
β’ Solid skills in Go and/or Python.
β’ Proficient in using GitHub for version control, code reviews, and team collaboration.
β’ Comprehensive understanding of distributed systems, AWS services, messaging patterns, and database optimization.
β’ Exceptional communication abilities for mentoring colleagues and coordinating with engineering teams.
β’ AI-assisted development processes utilizing Claude Code.
β’ A dedicated Platform Engineering team managing infrastructure provisioning and CI/CD.
β’ High levels of autonomy with minimal bureaucratic obstacles.
β’ Primarily focused on greenfield services without legacy code or technical debt.
