Senior Software Engineer, Ruby on Rails

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design and improve the easybill Connect e-commerce application utilizing Ruby on Rails

• Take full ownership of features and projects, overseeing everything from technical design and implementation to stable operation

• Create scalable backend solutions, robust integrations, and high-performance processes for marketplaces, shop systems, shipping, and e-commerce APIs

• Assist in frontend development using TypeScript and React as necessary

• Facilitate data migrations, refactoring, and technical modernization, emphasizing stability, maintainability, and quality

• Systematically evaluate errors and implement sustainable solutions

• Utilize AI tools like Claude Code for quicker iterations, code reviews, context analysis, and enhanced productivity

• Share your ideas and contribute to the evolution of engineering processes

• Collaborate closely with Product, UX, Support, and other engineering teams

• Opportunity to make contributions in UX, Product Management, or Infrastructure

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in software development with a strong grasp of how to reliably build, operate, and evolve modern web applications

• Strong proficiency in at least one relevant backend stack, ideally Ruby on Rails; alternatively, the capability to quickly learn and systematically adapt

• Independent and proactive mindset with a strong focus on quality

• Experience in structuring technical topics, preparing decisions, and independently advancing projects

• Comfortable employing AI tools such as Claude Code, ChatGPT, or similar solutions within your workflow

• Openness to exploring new tools, methodologies, and automation opportunities

• Clear and reliable communication on an equal basis

• Fluent in German and proficient in English

• Experience with Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and React, as well as familiarity with e-commerce, marketplace, or shipping APIs are advantageous

• Knowledge of invoicing processes, taxation, or accounting is a plus

• Experience in data migrations, refactoring, legacy modernization, infrastructure, scalability, performance, or DevOps is a plus

• Experience with AI-assisted software development is a plus
