Senior Software Engineer, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Develop efficient Python code for structured time series datasets that are scalable across cloud infrastructures.

• Take full responsibility for features from their initial scoping and design to implementation, deployment, and monitoring.

• Engage in discussions regarding software and infrastructure system design, as well as architectural decisions.

• Create and maintain reliable, thoroughly tested Python backend services and APIs.

• Model, query, and enhance MongoDB data through effective schema design, indexing, and aggregation pipelines.

• Deploy and manage containerized services on cloud infrastructure.

• Utilize GCP components such as Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Google Cloud Storage (GCS).

• Integrate AI-first development methodologies and AI tools into the workflow.

• Collaborate through code reviews, technical documentation, and adherence to shared engineering standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in production-grade Python 3.13+ with type annotations and async/await features.

• Experience in designing REST or gRPC APIs with OpenAPI contracts and versioning.

• Practical knowledge of Flask and/or FastAPI frameworks.

• Experience in configuring Gunicorn for WSGI deployment.

• Solid understanding of SOLID principles and clean architecture practices.

• Familiarity with pandas or numpy for statistical and exploratory data analysis.

• Capability to efficiently process medium-to-large datasets and present findings through visualizations or reports.

• Proven experience in delivering features to production in cloud-based SaaS products.

• Hands-on experience with MongoDB, including schema design, indexing, and aggregation pipelines.

• Knowledge of MongoEngine or PyMongo.

• Practical experience with uv or similar dependency management tools.

• Comprehensive understanding of pytest testing, including fixtures, parameterization, and mocking of external services.

• Experience with Docker and Docker Compose.

• Familiarity with enforcing code quality standards using ruff and pyright.

• Ability to take ownership of projects from initial scoping through to delivery and iteration.

• Skill in translating ambiguous product requirements into clear technical proposals.

• Strong communication skills to convey trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Competence in conducting code reviews that enhance quality and provide contextual insights.
