Senior Software Engineer – Platform Enablement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and advance cross-functional platform systems that encompass approval workflows, permissions, authentication, and notifications.

• Utilize architectural expertise to manage state, ensure data integrity, enhance scalability, and maintain backward compatibility.

• Collaborate effectively with engineers, product managers, and subject matter experts across teams that utilize PANDA services.

• Break down complex and ambiguous projects into manageable technical tasks and secure migration strategies.

• Develop efficient, scalable, and secure backend code using Ruby on Rails.

• Design and enhance PostgreSQL data models and SQL queries for optimal performance.

• Engage in code reviews, including those that involve contributions from other teams impacting PANDA-owned systems.

• Guide and learn from fellow engineers while contributing to raising the technical standards.

• Enhance tools, processes, and best practices within the organization.

• Participate in an on-call rotation and address production-related issues as they arise.

⛳️ Requirements

• Background in full-stack engineering with experience in developing production web applications and APIs, preferably using Ruby on Rails.

• Strong architectural acumen with the ability to evaluate trade-offs and select suitable abstractions in shared, cross-team systems.

• Experience working on a platform, infrastructure, or enablement team.

• Proven track record of building systems that are utilized by other teams.

• Experience in balancing roadmap commitments while enabling other teams to progress.

• Bonus: Familiarity with approval workflows, role-based access control (RBAC), or identity/authentication tools like Auth0, and session management within a multi-tenant SaaS environment.

• Experience in collaborating with product teams that leverage shared platform services.

• Comfort with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code.

• Initial experience in developing AI-enabled agents or MCP servers.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Comfortable working within Agile/Scrum cycles, typically two weeks in duration.

• Proficient in writing, analyzing, and optimizing SQL queries; PostgreSQL experience is advantageous.

• Customer-centric mindset with keen attention to detail.

• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, StimulusJS, Redis, Sidekiq, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes.
