This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +1 more state.
• Design, develop, integrate, and test essential functionalities within the onboard C++ software stack.
• Construct and uphold core elements of the Sol3 SDK, which includes reusable C++ libraries, APIs, tools, and abstractions utilized across engineering teams.
• Develop systems software that incorporates inter-process communication, device and sensor interfaces, and networking capabilities.
• Create and enhance multithreaded, low-latency software tailored for constrained embedded environments.
• Seamlessly integrate cameras, sensors, heterogeneous computing platforms, and networking interfaces into dependable end-to-end systems.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to evaluate user flows and implement solutions that can be integrated with the SDK.
• Incorporate perception algorithms into core components of the Sol3 SDK and establish maintainable interfaces between algorithmic and platform code.
• Develop onboard applications that support perception, navigation, and mission operations.
• Assist with software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, spacecraft integration, mission simulation, and flight operations activities.
• Identify and troubleshoot system-level challenges across software, firmware, and hardware.
• Participate in architectural decisions, perform technical reviews, and mentor fellow engineers.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
• Over 3 years of professional experience in software engineering, focusing on the development of complex production systems.
• Proficient in developing and debugging software within embedded Linux environments and integrating software with hardware, sensors, and external systems.
• Strong expertise in modern C++, including multithreading, memory management, debugging, and performance enhancement.
• Experience in writing general systems software, including IPC mechanisms, hardware buses, and sensor interfaces (e.g., GMSL, I2C, SPI), as well as network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP).
• Background in designing reusable libraries, APIs, platform services, or SDK components that are utilized across various engineering teams.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, algorithms, automated testing, and maintainable software design principles.
• Proven ability to address complex system-level challenges and communicate effectively across software, algorithm, hardware, and systems engineering teams.
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain necessary U.S. Department of State authorizations under ITAR.
• A master's or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in developing software or firmware for spacecraft, aerospace, robotics, autonomous vehicles, defense systems, or other mission-critical applications is preferred.
• Familiarity with integrating cameras or perception sensors with embedded Linux, GPUs, FPGAs, or other heterogeneous computing platforms is preferred.
• Knowledge of computer vision, visual navigation, state estimation, localization, mapping, or perception pipelines is preferred.
• Experience with 3D geometry, coordinate transformations, camera models, or spatial data structures is preferred.
• Proficient in Python for tooling, automation, and testing purposes is preferred.
• Experience with flight software interfaces, telemetry and commanding, software- or hardware-in-the-loop testing, vehicle integration, or mission operations is preferred.
