Senior Software Engineer – PHP, TypeScript, Node.js

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Create new features and take full responsibility for projects from the initial idea to stable deployment.

• Develop backend functionalities using PHP 8.x and Symfony, focusing on domain logic, APIs, and integrations.

• Engage with a data-rich codebase that has been developed over the past 18 years.

• Build modern frontends utilizing TypeScript, React, and TanStack.

• Create Node.js services with TypeScript and Next.js.

• Contribute to JVM microservices using Java and Kotlin within the e-invoicing sector.

• Migrate data, refactor existing modules, and gradually update legacy PHP components.

• Conduct thorough error analysis and debugging.

• Utilize Claude Code extensively as a productivity tool.

• Assist in infrastructure development and local containerized environments using Docker.

• Understand and enhance systems while influencing the e-invoicing landscape.

• Work independently, proactively, and in a self-organized manner within the engineering team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive, autonomous, senior-level experience in software development using PHP and Symfony.

• Strong capabilities in domain design, testing, and performance optimization within a long-established codebase.

• Depending on your area of expertise, additional experience with TypeScript and React is preferred.

• Proficient in relational databases such as MySQL, including skills in query optimization and data modeling for large datasets.

• Ability to make informed technical decisions and quickly adapt to new systems.

• A strong sense of ownership, a desire to learn, and a dedication to thoroughly solving problems.

• Fluent in German.

• Good command of English.

• Bonus: Experience with Node.js, data structures and algorithms, distributed systems, and data-intensive apps.

• Bonus: Familiarity with JVM languages like Java or Kotlin.

• Bonus: Contributions to open-source projects or public experiments on GitHub.
