Senior Software Engineer – Payments

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Uruguay.

📋 Description

• Design and develop essential payment infrastructure for online transactions, in-person payments, and recurring billing processes.

• Ensure the reliability of financial transactions, focusing on aspects like idempotency, webhook processing, failure recovery, and reconciliation.

• Maintain PCI DSS compliance and ensure that financial systems remain auditable and observable.

• Work collaboratively with Product, Finance, and Club Operations teams to implement features such as split payments, deposits, multi-currency support, and marketplace payouts.

• Establish high standards for code that is critical to payment processes.

• Provide mentorship to engineers within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in developing backend systems in production settings, with a strong emphasis on payments or financial systems.

• Hands-on experience with Adyen in a production environment.

• Knowledge of Checkout, Terminal API, tokenization, webhooks, or Adyen for Platforms.

• At least 3 years of proven experience with Ruby on Rails in production environments.

• Understanding of concepts such as idempotency, exactly-once semantics, currency precision, and ledger thinking.

• Demonstrated ability to manage high-availability services, including monitoring, alerting, incident management, and conducting postmortems.

• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing accuracy.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate asynchronously.

• Proficient in both written and spoken English.

• Regular use of AI tools throughout the processes of design, coding, code reviews, testing, debugging, and incident analysis.

• Experience in creating AI-powered tools or agents that have been deployed to production.
