Senior Software Engineer – Partner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Establish team objectives and ensure that proposed initiatives align with those goals.

• Facilitate prioritization efforts to meet team objectives.

• Design and execute intricate technical solutions that are in line with the company's strategic vision.

• Advocate for engineering best practices and standards throughout the broader engineering community.

• Take ownership of technical decisions within the team across various technologies.

• Manage significant technical features from conception to completion.

• Make informed decisions balancing progress with perfection.

• Provide technical guidance to the squad.

• Actively address technical debt and work to simplify services and processes.

• Gain insights into UW’s multi-service business model and align squad efforts with the overall company strategy.

• Instill company culture and mentor engineers through collaborative programming and code reviews.

• Lead intricate projects and explore uncharted territories.

• Develop platforms and services that support the Partner proposition, including lead routing, partner onboarding, appointments, and business management.

• Manage deployments end-to-end within the team’s Kubernetes namespaces.

• Ensure the delivery of reliable, observable, and resilient services.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers in self-sufficient, product-oriented teams.

• Foster continuous improvement of experiences through experimentation and data-driven insights.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience with Go is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Demonstrated proficiency with Postgres, Kafka, and Kubernetes.

• Extensive experience in building distributed systems, including concurrency and event-driven architectures.

• Strong grasp of system resilience, observability, uptime, SLAs, and progressive degradation.

• Capability to deliver comprehensive solutions from design through construction, deployment, and ongoing support.

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools, Terraform, and contemporary cloud workflows.

• Knowledge of Kafka and database migrations, such as CockroachDB to RDS, is a plus.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to excel in an agile, iterative environment while consistently delivering feature enhancements.

• Experience in mentoring mid-level engineers and exemplifying engineering best practices.

• Comfort in working within autonomous, product-focused teams.

• Practical experience with AI development tools.
