This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop, manage, and nurture open source products along with their associated ecosystems.
• Collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, engineers, community participants, and end users.
• Partner with internal engineers and open source contributors to address features, bug fixes, reviews, and releases.
• Engage actively with open source communities, industry partners, and standards organizations via platforms like Slack and GitHub.
• Lead community meetings that include both internal and external users.
• Provide mission-driven experiences for end users.
• Work alongside users to create case studies, blogs, and presentations for conferences.
• Recognize and clarify ambiguities related to product requirements, community demands, and upstream limitations.
• Develop and integrate secure, interoperable cloud-native software tailored for defense environments.
• Enhance relevant open source projects through contributions.
• Take ownership of architectural decisions and ensure technical excellence across codebases, APIs, and contributor workflows.
• Create design proposals, contribution guides, user documentation, and maintenance manuals.
• Monitor and track new developments in cloud-native, open source, and secure software supply chain technologies.
• Provide technical guidance and elevate engineering standards within the team.
• Shape product direction by understanding user requirements and system limitations.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Proven experience in building or maintaining open source software tools, particularly in cloud-native, software lifecycle, or software supply chain areas.
• Proficient in Go programming language.
• Eagerness to learn TypeScript.
• Ability to contribute in additional modern programming languages such as Rust.
• Strong grasp of system design, library and software APIs, Kubernetes, and cloud architecture, including AWS and Azure.
• Experience in contributing to open source projects and engaging with open source communities.
• Familiarity with fundamental Kubernetes concepts, including controllers, operators, and CRDs.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Capability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Willingness to travel 5–15% as needed.
