Senior Software Engineer, Native Mobile

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and deliver features across native iOS and Android codebases simultaneously.

• Collaborate with design and product teams to convert product specifications into platform-specific implementations.

• Maintain architecture, performance, and app size standards across both platforms.

• Contribute to shared client contracts, including schema, logging, and testing frameworks.

• Recognize modifications that may lead to divergence between the platforms.

• Assist engineers in transitioning to dual-platform work through pairing and code reviews.

• Engage in technical reviews and architectural discussions that encompass both platforms.

• Take ownership of features from start to finish across both applications.

• Make architectural choices that are consistent across Swift and Kotlin.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Extensive, up-to-date hands-on knowledge of native iOS, including Swift and UIKit/SwiftUI.

• Extensive, up-to-date hands-on knowledge of native Android, including Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.

• Proven history of independently delivering medium to large complexity features on either platform.

• Proficiency in reading, debugging, and reasoning about code from the other platform.

• Experience in maintaining coherence between two separate native codebases at scale.

• Comfortable taking ownership of features amidst uncertainty.

• Experience collaborating with design and product to convert ambiguous requirements into clear implementations.

• Understanding of fully native mobile development along with practical cross-platform tooling.

• Must reside in a US state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
