Senior Software Engineer, Java

📋 Description

• Enhance overall engineering quality by providing documentation, technical guidance, mentoring, and implementing engineering best practices.

• Lead major migration projects.

• Collaborate with government stakeholders to gain support for technical initiatives.

• Work together with product teams, government representatives, and contractors to develop new systems and enhance existing ones.

• Write code and conduct code reviews.

• Draft and evaluate technical specifications.

• Identify and address technical risks alongside cross-functional product teams.

• Direct engineering planning, estimation, prioritization, trade-offs, technical debt, and project milestones.

• Assess architecture and designs from other project teams.

• Create technical roadmaps.

• Suggest and enforce technical architecture.

• Maintain production systems.

• Manage on-call responsibilities and troubleshoot and resolve issues.

• Participate in business development proposals.

• Engage in client stakeholder meetings focused on growth.

• Collaborate with leadership on project expansion strategies.

• Attend conferences and network with potential clients.

• Review strategic plans and outline technical requirements for prospective work.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in an agile, multidisciplinary team environment, preferably in designing and building medium to large-scale systems on cloud platforms.

• Proven experience in designing and implementing production-grade, cloud-native microservices and RESTful APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and containerized deployment patterns.

• Familiarity with relational databases, preferably Postgres, utilizing JDBC and ORM mappers such as Hibernate.

• Experience with DevOps practices, preferably with Jenkins CI/CD.

• Proficient in using AWS cloud-native services and data engineering techniques.

• Determined to tackle problems and iterate on functional code.

• Highly resourceful, dependable, and detail-oriented.

• Ability to strategically assess trade-offs and balance short-term versus long-term benefits.

• Adaptive, empathetic, collaborative, and possesses a positive mindset.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, both technical and non-technical.

• Previous experience working with stakeholders.

• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Capability to meet additional requirements for relevant government contracts.

• Work authorization that does not necessitate visa sponsorship now or in the future.

• May be required to undergo a government background check or security clearance based on the contract.
