This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create and develop high-performance, scalable, and dependable backend services based on Rails.
• Oversee the end-to-end delivery of intricate features, from defining product requirements to deployment and monitoring.
• Identify and resolve performance issues effectively.
• Enhance database query efficiency and bolster backend robustness under heavy loads.
• Suggest and advocate for architectural choices, assessing trade-offs and conveying recommendations.
• Guide Software Engineers I, II, and III through code reviews, collaborative coding, and technical mentoring.
• Establish and refine engineering standards related to code quality, testing, observability, and deployment processes.
• Work alongside Product Managers, Designers, QA, and engineering teams to convert product objectives into technical implementations.
• Engage in the on-call rotation, conduct root cause analyses, and contribute to long-term reliability enhancements.
• 5–8 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a substantial focus on developing production Ruby on Rails applications.
• Demonstrated success in owning and delivering complex, multi-faceted features within a team setting.
• Expertise in designing and managing backend systems that address significant scale and complexity.
• Advanced proficiency in Ruby on Rails.
• Strong skills in PostgreSQL, covering schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning at scale.
• Comprehensive understanding of API design principles, including RESTful services, serialization methods, and versioning strategies.
• Familiarity with background job processing (such as Sidekiq) and asynchronous processing workflows.
• Experience in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation practices.
• Awareness of observability practices, encompassing logging, metrics, and tracing methodologies.
• Working knowledge of Go programming language.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance on ambiguous challenges.
• Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in a fully remote engineering environment.
• Capable of transitioning between deep technical tasks and collaborative planning sessions.
• Must possess authorization to work for any employer in the U.S.; sponsorship for employment visas is not available.
