Senior Software Engineer, Fullstack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and achieve quarterly objectives for the team.

• Guide engineers through uncertain scenarios to address complex problems and provide support during delivery.

• Work collaboratively with product management, design, and analytics throughout the entire product development process.

• Engage in brainstorming sessions, articulate technical limitations, and collaborate on decisions while considering risks and trade-offs.

• Identify and lead the resolution of issues related to projects, processes, technology, and business operations.

• Enhance operations and system availability by creating and tracking metrics, escalating issues as necessary, and contributing to ongoing maintenance and on-call efforts.

• Promote quality and ownership by establishing or refining code review and design standards.

• Champion engineering standards through writing and technical presentations.

• Cultivate team talent through constructive feedback, mentorship, and leading by example.

• Build and manage products at scale for Affirm’s global Direct-to-Consumer markets.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a software engineer.

• Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying backend systems at scale.

• Proficiency in Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.

• Experience in releasing web applications using declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue.

• Daily utilization of AI to produce high-quality products efficiently.

• Experience in defining technical strategies for major features or system components.

• Capability to write high-quality, clear, and reusable code.

• Skill in implementing significant changes in large codebases safely.

• Experience in developing tools and practices that facilitate safe large-scale code modifications.

• Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and a proactive approach to seeking feedback.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
