Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, document, and manage production-level software, with an emphasis on Go services and APIs.

• Take ownership of the technical design for medium to large features and systems, including trade-off evaluations and documentation of decisions made.

• Decompose ambiguous challenges into clear, manageable tasks.

• Lead and engage in design and architecture evaluation sessions.

• Establish standards for accuracy, clarity, testability, and operational safety during code reviews.

• Mentor engineers, facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, and act as a technical liaison.

• Enhance the on-call rotation, instrument services, manage incident response, and lead postmortem discussions without assigning blame.

• Boost system reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness; define and act upon SLOs and operational metrics.

• Identify and mitigate technical debt.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders on technology and roadmap decisions.

• Assist in establishing and enforcing engineering principles, guidelines, and best practices.

• Cultivate a deep understanding of the industry, products, features, and roadmap to guide technical choices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in professional software engineering, focusing on building and managing production systems.

• Strong and proven expertise in Go (Golang) — essential.

• Experience in designing, building, and scaling backend services and APIs (REST and/or gRPC) within a distributed, microservices architecture.

• Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, with experience in React or another contemporary front-end framework.

• Understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases, caching mechanisms, and event streaming technologies such as Kafka or SQS/SNS.

• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure; containerization; CI/CD practices; and infrastructure-as-code.

• Skills in observability, monitoring, alerting, and debugging in a production environment.

• Proven experience leading projects with multiple contributors, delivering results on schedule without compromising quality.

• Knowledge of Agile software delivery methods and SCRUM practices.

• Capability to work collaboratively across various functions within an enterprise setting.
