Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, document, and maintain production-quality software, with a focus on Go services and APIs.

• Take ownership of the technical design for medium to large features and systems, including evaluating trade-offs, creating documentation, and ensuring timely delivery.

• Deconstruct ambiguous challenges into well-defined, actionable tasks.

• Lead and engage in design and architecture evaluations.

• Set standards for code quality, readability, testability, and operational safety.

• Mentor and develop engineers, assist in onboarding new hires, and act as a technical resource.

• Enhance the on-call rotation through improved instrumentation, effective incident response, and conducting blameless postmortems.

• Boost reliability, performance, and cost efficiency; define and act on Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and operational metrics.

• Identify and mitigate technical debt.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders on roadmap and technology strategies.

• Assist in defining and upholding engineering principles, guidelines, and best practices.

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the industry, products, features, and roadmap to guide technical decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in software engineering with a focus on building and operating production systems.

• Strong, proven expertise in Go (Golang) — a must.

• Experience in developing and deploying production services in Go, including knowledge of concurrency patterns, error handling, testing, profiling, and performance optimization.

• Background in designing, building, and scaling backend services and APIs (REST and/or gRPC) within distributed microservices architectures.

• Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript along with experience using React or another contemporary front-end framework.

• Understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases, caching mechanisms, and event streaming technologies such as Kafka or SQS/SNS.

• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure; containerization; CI/CD; and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.

• Solid operational capabilities in observability, monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting production issues.

• Proven ability to lead projects with multiple contributors and deliver results on schedule without compromising quality.

• Understanding of Agile software product delivery and SCRUM methodologies.

• Capability to collaborate across functions within an enterprise environment.
