Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +27 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the development, testing, and upkeep of scalable Python code for data ingestion, transformation, and processing across both streaming and batch architectures.

• Create and enhance data models and transformation logic that support advanced analytics and the evolving needs of business intelligence.

• Construct and optimize high-performance ETL/ELT workflows utilizing AWS DMS, Kinesis, and other relevant data integration technologies.

• Identify and resolve pipeline issues while implementing preventative strategies to guarantee data integrity and reliability.

• Guide junior engineers and set documentation standards for code, models, and processes.

• Take ownership of the architecture for enterprise cloud data platforms.

• Promote CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code best practices.

• Utilize AI-assisted tools to ensure system reliability, performance, and data integrity.

• Collaborate in a quality-focused environment to design and scale mission-critical streaming and batch pipelines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in data engineering, showcasing expertise in designing, conducting thorough code reviews, and managing intricate, large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines.

• Profound understanding and practical experience with enterprise-grade cloud data platforms such as Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake, including architectural intricacies and performance optimization techniques.

• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, encompassing optimization techniques in MySQL, Postgres, and SQL Server.

• Significant experience with complex data transformations.

• Strong knowledge of AWS services including DMS, S3, Airflow, Kinesis, DocumentDB, CloudWatch, Kubernetes, and Glue.

• Demonstrated capability to establish and maintain effective version control workflows using GitHub.

• Ability to design and execute sophisticated CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure.

• Strong commitment to infrastructure-as-code principles and tools.

• Practical experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, and Cursor.

• Must reside in one of the specified states to be considered.

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
