This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design and develop idiomatic Rust libraries and APIs that provide essential CUDA functionality and GPU algorithms.

• Create safe Rust abstractions over native CUDA and C/C++ interfaces.

• Maintain and enhance the C/C++ components necessary for Rust-facing functionality.

• Ensure safe and efficient interoperability between Rust and C/C++, including interfaces that facilitate downstream Python integration.

• Optimize performance across Rust, native C/C++, and GPU execution boundaries.

• Take ownership of features from design through to implementation, testing, profiling, benchmarking, documentation, packaging, release, and ongoing maintenance.

• Enhance the Rust developer experience by providing examples, diagnostics, build integration, compatibility testing, continuous integration, and collaborating with C/C++, Python, compiler, and runtime engineers.

• Collaborate with users to investigate and address issues related to safety, correctness, usability, compatibility, and performance.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Over 8 years of relevant software development experience.

• Proficient production programming skills in Rust and C/C++, with a thorough understanding of Rust ownership, lifetimes, traits, generics, concurrency, and unsafe code.

• Experience in developing systems libraries, runtime components, and developer-facing APIs.

• Practical knowledge of foreign-function interfaces and integrating Rust with C/C++ software.

• Strong grasp of systems software concepts, including performance, concurrency, and API design.

• Experience in parallel, heterogeneous, or GPU programming.

• Background in contributing to production or open-source software, including testing, profiling, benchmarking, packaging, and code review.

• Ability to work autonomously, define project scope, and drive complex projects to successful completion.

• Excellent written communication skills and capability to work effectively within large, multi-language codebases (Rust, C/C++, build systems, toolchains, CI).
