This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +45 more states.
• Design and implement control plane features for network security solutions using Go within Linux environments.
• Create and manage APIs along with cloud-based configuration services.
• Convert network and security policies into configurations utilized by distributed networking infrastructure.
• Develop business logic for network configuration and orchestration processes.
• Create software that oversees and distributes configurations among networking devices and systems.
• Engage with network configuration models and interfaces, such as YANG or similar standards.
• Integrate third-party components and internal services into Cisco's security platforms.
• Collaborate with data plane and platform engineering teams to ensure comprehensive functionality.
• Participate in architecture discussions, feature design, and technical execution for new security capabilities.
• Work with globally distributed teams while maintaining regular overlap with Pacific Time.
• Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant software engineering experience, or a Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience, or a PhD with 3 years of relevant experience.
• Over 5 years of development experience in programming languages such as Go or C++.
• Proven experience in software development within Linux environments.
• Experience in developing software for networking or network infrastructure products.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, VRFs, VXLAN, network topology, routing/switching, or control plane/data plane interactions.
• Preferred 5+ years of professional Go development experience.
• Experience in designing and developing APIs utilizing REST, gRPC, or Protocol Buffers is preferred.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes-based applications is preferred.
• Knowledge of CRDs, Kubernetes APIs, controllers, RBAC, or secrets management is preferred.
• Preferred experience in developing software for switching, routing, firewall, or other network infrastructure platforms.
• Familiarity with YANG, NETCONF, telemetry, or similar infrastructure configuration frameworks is preferred.
• Experience working effectively in a remote or distributed team environment is preferred.
• Ability to collaborate during Pacific Time (PST/PDT) business hours.
