Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the architecture, quality, scalability, maintainability, and operational health of a system or subsystem within Verisma's enterprise application.

• Convert business objectives into technical designs, identify constraints and trade-offs, and document decisions made.

• Lead collaborative technical efforts from the design phase through to delivery.

• Design, develop, and enhance features utilizing React with TypeScript on the front end and C#/.NET on the back end.

• Optimize and maintain SQL Server databases, focusing on schema design, performance tuning, and data integrity.

• Modernize legacy codebases by refactoring them into modular architectures that adhere to cloud-native best practices.

• Implement and automate strategies for unit and integration testing.

• Establish technical standards, expectations for code reviews, secure coding practices, and requirements for handling PHI.

• Participate in on-call rotations and lead the resolution of production issues.

• Design and enhance event-driven integrations, covering messaging patterns, event contracts, versioning, and delivery guarantees.

• Ensure that asynchronous workflows manage duplicate and out-of-order deliveries, poison messages, dead-lettering, and eventual consistency while maintaining PHI data integrity and auditability.

• Define AI usage patterns and verification requirements for artifacts generated by AI.

• Identify architectural and security vulnerabilities introduced by AI-generated code.

• Appropriately decompose work for AI-assisted workflows and maintain effective specifications, tests, and architectural documentation.

• Ensure compliance of AI tool usage with PHI handling, approved tools, and audit requirements.

• Collaborate with internal staff, contractors, and DevOps teams.

• Utilize Azure DevOps for source control, CI/CD, and work tracking.

• Engage in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous process improvement.

• Mentor junior developers and advocate for technical excellence.

• Report directly to the Director of Software Engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.

• Over 6 years of professional software development experience, including full-stack and cloud-native development, with proven ownership of a production system.

• Expertise in C#/.NET for backend development.

• Proficiency in React with TypeScript and Redux for frontend development.

• Strong skills in SQL Server, including T-SQL, schema design, and stored procedures.

• Knowledge of Azure services, including App Services, containers, horizontal scaling, and message queues.

• Proven ability to critically review AI-generated code and articulate reasons for the rejection of specific outputs.

• Experience in establishing AI-assisted development practices within a system area, including verification standards and review expectations.

• Familiarity with Azure DevOps Repos, Pipelines, and Boards is necessary.

• Experience with Microsoft Power BI Embedded is a plus.

• Capability to write meaningful automated unit and integration tests utilizing xUnit, Moq, or similar frameworks.

• In-depth knowledge of secure coding practices aligned with OWASP Top 10.

• Solid understanding of software architecture principles, including microservices and SPA design.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and elevate technical standards across a team.

• Experience in healthcare or other regulated environments is preferred.

• Familiarity with Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban is essential.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required.

• A self-starter with a proactive mindset and a passion for continuous learning and improvement.

• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
