Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Develop high-quality features and address issues within a designated product stream utilizing AI coding agents as the main development tool.

• Undertake architecturally significant or unclear tasks.

• Establish standards for prompting, context management, and reviews of agent-generated code.

• Review AI-generated code for accuracy, performance, security, and compliance with coding standards.

• Manage and enhance prompts, context documents, system instructions, AGENTS.md, Skills, and related documentation.

• Determine tasks that are suitable for AI-assisted development versus those requiring manual implementation.

• Influence decisions regarding build versus buy and architectural trade-offs.

• Take ownership of system architecture, database schemas, API contracts, service boundaries, and deployment pipelines.

• Lead discussions on technical design, conduct code reviews, and make architectural decisions.

• Set standards for test coverage and ensure that AI-generated code includes automated testing.

• Troubleshoot and resolve intricate full-stack problems using both manual and AI-assisted methods.

• Drive the identification and resolution of technical debt.

• Mentor engineers on AI-native practices, prompting strategies, and workflow enhancements.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers regarding roadmap priorities.

• Represent the AI-native practices and progress of the product stream to engineering leadership.

• Document effective patterns and failure modes and promote their adoption across teams.

• Facilitate sprint ceremonies, technical planning, and knowledge sharing across streams.

• Foster organization-wide adoption through collaboration, coaching, and knowledge transfer.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of proven experience in software development using AI coding agents as a primary tool, with authentic agent-driven development workflows.

• A portfolio, GitHub profile, or personal projects showcasing a mature AI-native development approach, including the establishment of standards or mentoring others.

• Strong fundamentals in software engineering, including system design, data structures, API design, testing strategies, and deployment practices.

• Senior-level capability to evaluate AI-generated code for performance, security, edge cases, correctness, and architectural fit.

• Proven experience in full-stack software engineering across both frontend and backend development.

• Ability to provide constructive architectural feedback to AI tools and to coach or mentor engineers.

• Excellent communication skills with an ability to influence technical direction within a collaborative, cross-functional product team.

• Experience with PHP/Laravel, Vue.js/React.js, PostgreSQL/MySQL, Docker, Kubernetes, or GCP is a plus.

• Experience in SaaS, proptech, or real estate technology is advantageous.

• Familiarity with prompt engineering, context-window management, and enhancing AI-agent output quality is beneficial.

• Contributions to open-source projects or public writing that demonstrate thought leadership are desirable.

• Experience in leading or mentoring agile product teams with complete delivery ownership is a plus.

• Experience in assisting a team or organization in transitioning to new technical practices or operating models is desirable.
