Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Take charge of designing and delivering key features and technical projects within your team's area of expertise.

• Convert product requirements and unclear challenges into practical, scalable technical solutions.

• Make informed architectural and implementation choices, striking a balance between quality, speed, maintainability, and customer impact.

• Develop and sustain robust applications utilizing Python/Django, Angular, and TypeScript.

• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and fellow engineers to define technical specifications and delivery strategies.

• Assume responsibility for code quality, testing, debugging, deployment, and the ongoing operation of the software you create.

• Enhance existing systems and pinpoint opportunities to simplify, modernize, or fortify the codebase.

• Offer insightful code reviews and technical mentorship to other engineers.

• Guide and support junior engineers while contributing to the elevation of engineering standards within the team.

• Investigate and implement new technologies, including foundational models and agent-based workflows, where they can significantly enhance products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated expertise.

• Extensive experience in building modern web applications encompassing both backend and frontend development.

• Proficiency in Python and Django, or significant expertise in another Python web framework with the capacity to quickly become productive in Django.

• Strong skills in JavaScript and TypeScript.

• Proficiency with a modern frontend framework; experience with Angular is highly preferred.

• Experience with foundational models or AI-driven applications; familiarity with Gemini is a plus.

• Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs; familiarity with Django REST Framework is preferred.

• Solid understanding of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.

• Comprehensive understanding of software design principles, data structures, and common architectural patterns.

• Strong experience with Git and modern software development workflows.

• Capability to independently navigate complex problems and make sound technical decisions without requiring detailed guidance.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to articulate technical trade-offs clearly.

• A proven history of aiding other engineers' development through mentoring, code reviews, or technical leadership.

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Unrestricted working rights in Australia.
