Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain server-side logic for backend services.

• Take full responsibility for services from inception to completion, including deployment, operations, production health, and monitoring.

• Work in conjunction with CloudEng to enhance and manage production environments, focusing on monitoring and alerting.

• Engage in on-call/off-hours support, troubleshoot and resolve production issues, investigate incidents, address bug reports, and ensure reliability.

• Occasionally manage releases, dependency updates, and requests from stakeholders.

• Thoughtfully utilize AI-assisted development tools.

• Collaborate with frontend, platform, product, UX, design, and support teams.

• Contribute to API design and ensure that backend systems, APIs, and data contracts fulfill stakeholder requirements.

• Participate in code reviews.

• Take part in security and privacy assessments, ensuring data protection measures align with compliance standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of experience in software development with a strong emphasis on backend technologies.

• Extensive professional experience with Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or Rust in building backend services, along with confidence in leading backend engineering initiatives.

• Proficient in PostgreSQL and SQL query optimization, including relational schema design and migrations with a query builder like Knex.

• Practical DevOps experience on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with Docker-based build and deployment pipelines.

• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Sentry and Grafana.

• A pragmatic commitment to delivering high-quality work.

• Strong engineering judgment with the ability to navigate uncertainty and make informed decisions with limited information.

• A genuine ownership mentality and proven history of managing services in production, including on-call or off-hours support.

• Experience in mentoring junior engineers and fostering technical excellence in code quality, testing, and process enhancements.
