Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with product managers, developers, testers, designers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and acceptance criteria, assess risks, and convert them into effective deliverables.

• Perform code peer reviews to sustain quality across React Native and GitHub Actions YAML codebases.

• Assume Engineering Lead responsibilities as needed.

• Ensure that front-end code modifications adhere to accessibility standards for screen readers, voice control, and other assistive technologies.

• Diagnose and resolve complex software issues.

• Cultivate strong relationships with client stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor on quality, engineering, accessibility, and risk management.

• Convey engineering strategies, discoveries, risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Comprehend client needs, objectives, constraints, and priorities, and align coding strategies accordingly.

• Identify responsible AI-enabled methodologies that enhance customer value, quality, or efficiency.

• Establish and uphold software engineering practices concerning code quality, technical design, testing, documentation, accessibility, security, and sustainable development workflows.

• Share technical expertise, tools, methodologies, and effective AI practices with team members.

• Participate in technical sprint planning, engineering decisions, and delivery objectives.

• Recognize and tackle technical, delivery, or team-related challenges and highlight risks.

• Enhance MO’s engineering techniques, tools, processes, architecture, and working methodologies.

• Contribute to organizational initiatives, communities of practice, proposals, engagement planning, solution development, and growth activities.

• Spot opportunities to leverage engineering expertise, AI, automation, or emerging technologies to develop scalable capabilities and boost efficiency.

• Share client and industry insights to refine MO’s strategies and value proposition.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of engineering experience, with considerable expertise in designing, developing, and delivering complex software systems.

• Experience collaborating with the federal government, with prior VA experience preferred.

• Proven track record of independently managing complex technical projects, defining project scopes, solving problems, and delivering high-quality software with minimal oversight.

• Strong background in designing and implementing software using technologies such as React Native, Ruby on Rails, Node.js, AWS, Bash, GitHub Actions, and test automation suites.

• Experience in designing complex software, defining project scopes, and facilitating productive code and design reviews.

• Experience working closely with product and design teams to grasp user requirements, use cases, and technical considerations, and translate them into effective software solutions.

• Experience integrating accessibility, privacy, security, monitoring, and PII protection into software design and development.

• Familiarity with mobile application development and release procedures across iOS and Android platforms.

• Demonstrated capability to utilize AI and automation to enhance workflows, reduce manual efforts, improve quality, or increase delivery effectiveness.

• Ability to lead and mentor engineers with empathy, provide insightful technical guidance, and support individual skill development.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, design, and stakeholder teams.

• Willingness to contribute beyond assigned project tasks through organizational initiatives, knowledge sharing, practice development, and growth activities.

• Experience in contributing to complex applications in regulated or highly controlled environments is a plus.

• Familiarity with React Native is a plus.

• Experience in developing automated mobile testing frameworks or CI/CD testing workflows is a plus.

• Experience using AI-enabled development tools or creating AI-assisted methodologies is a plus.
