This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Act as the technical standard bearer for the team through individual contributions and code evaluations.
• Design, develop, and manage features from start to finish utilizing C#/.NET and SQL Server, expanding into React and Node (TypeScript) with Postgres for newer products.
• Decompose large or unclear technical challenges into manageable tasks.
• Collaborate with the Product Owner to prioritize work in line with roadmap commitments and state compliance deadlines.
• Acquire comprehensive knowledge of the team's technical landscape and integrations facilitating the movement of educator, district, and evaluation data between state systems.
• Serve as a technical resource within the team, assisting teammates and ensuring project delivery remains on track.
• Work in partnership with Product, Customer Success, and go-to-market teams to identify customer challenges and influence development direction.
• Seek out opportunities to enhance and optimize availability, performance, and the agency user experience.
• Provide technical insights, feedback, estimates, and planning support.
• Participate as a member of a self-managing Scrum team, including shared responsibilities for production support.
• Report to the Software Engineering Manager.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Proven history of managing a complex codebase, or a strong ability to navigate multiple codebases effectively, or a solid combination of both.
• Strong foundation in computer science principles: algorithms, data structures, and coding proficiency, with demonstrated expertise in a modern web stack.
• Extensive hands-on experience with C# and .NET, including ASP.NET web applications and backend service development.
• Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript and familiar with a contemporary front-end framework.
• Solid relational database skills, encompassing schema design and data modeling in SQL Server, Postgres, or similar systems.
• Familiarity with a major public cloud provider; experience with Azure, with translation of AWS or Google Cloud experience being beneficial.
• Experience delivering results swiftly within an Agile team environment, including source control, CI/CD, automated testing, and production support.
• Ability to dissect technical issues into sequential steps as part of a credible solution strategy.
• Capacity to guide teammates towards solutions through inquiry rather than direct answers.
• Collaborative mindset, shared ownership, knowledge sharing, and a commitment to helping others meet the expectations they establish.
