Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Take charge of production reliability during North American business hours and serve as the primary responder for issues.

• Implement features from start to finish on the internal operations platform and client-facing portal.

• Ensure integration health across QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Graph, Bill.com, property management platforms, and CRM systems.

• Manage the security posture of delivered software with clearly defined acceptance criteria.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable web applications and backend services.

• Create AI-enabled features and incorporate LLM APIs for tasks such as document extraction, classification, review workflows, and agent-driven automation.

• Utilize AI development tools like Claude Code as part of the daily engineering process.

• Develop and maintain REST APIs, serverless functions, background workers, scheduled jobs, and webhook ingestion pipelines.

• Oversee database schema design, migrations with tested rollback paths, and query performance.

• Diagnose and resolve production incidents across application, database, and third-party integration layers.

• Implement structured logging, alerting, and monitoring for authentication failures, integrations, queues, and background jobs.

• Create runbooks for recurring issues.

• Extend existing codebases without unnecessary rewrites.

• Write maintainable, well-documented code and engage in code reviews.

• Convert technical risks and trade-offs into business language for leadership and operations teams.

• Collaborate with an existing engineer based in the Philippines and an external development partner.

• Ensure consistent coverage from 11:00 AM–7:00 PM ET, Monday through Friday.

• In the first 90 days, manage the escalation load, establish alerting and backup verification, and take ownership of a significant workstream.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• Senior-level full-stack experience with a proven track record of delivering and operating production software.

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React.

• Experience in developing Node.js/serverless backends.

• Familiarity with Vite, Tailwind CSS, Vercel Serverless Functions, and Supabase/PostgreSQL is highly desirable.

• Solid experience with SQL/PostgreSQL, including data modeling, indexing, query performance, and migrations.

• Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations.

• Proficiency in Git, testing, CI/CD, and collaborative development workflows.

• Authentic AI-first development experience using Claude Code or similar AI coding agents on shipped projects.

• Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code, especially code dealing with financial or sensitive data.

• Ownership of production systems, including incident response, rollback or fixes, and follow-up enhancements.

• Experience in inheriting and extending another individual's codebase.

• Experience in establishing alerting and logging mechanisms.

• Familiarity with software that handles sensitive financial or regulated data.

• Working knowledge of multi-tenant data isolation, PostgreSQL row-level security, scoped request context, and server-side authorization.

• Experience with OAuth 2.0 integration, including token refresh, expiry/revocation handling, and encrypted credential storage.

• Proficient in secure document handling, access auditing, and measures to prevent leakage of signed URLs.

• Understanding of secure SDLC principles, including input validation, IDOR prevention, secrets hygiene, and vulnerability triage of dependencies.

• Experience with Docker in production, including multi-stage builds, deployments, and rollback strategies.

• Practical experience with Azure, GCP, or AWS.

• Personal experience in restoring PostgreSQL from backups.

• Ability to read and modify reverse proxy configurations and manage TLS certificate renewals.

• Consistent availability from 11:00 AM–7:00 PM ET, Monday through Friday; schedule is non-flexible.

• Preferred: experience in accounting, bookkeeping, fintech, or property management software.

• Preferred: experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting/ERP integrations.

• Preferred: experience with Anthropic Claude API or OpenAI API.

• Preferred: in-depth familiarity with Claude Code.

• Preferred: proficiency in Python.

• Preferred: experience with scheduled jobs, cron workflows, GitHub Actions, or other background processing systems.

• Preferred: experience with threat modeling, access logging, or data retention policies.

• Preferred: experience in a SOC 2 or similar compliance environment.

• Preferred: experience working with distributed remote teams across multiple time zones.
