Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Design and develop scalable distributed systems that facilitate financial transactions and real-time event processing.

• Architect services that can handle real-world scale, address failure scenarios, and meet performance constraints.

• Ensure data integrity and consistency throughout distributed workflows.

• Build a secure infrastructure that safeguards sensitive financial information.

• Identify opportunities to utilize AI tools to enhance development speed and improve engineering processes.

• Contribute to the development of AI-driven product features and platform automation.

• Assist in the evolution of modern developer tools and AI-enhanced engineering practices.

• Design systems that incorporate observability, monitoring, and failure recovery mechanisms.

• Troubleshoot complex production issues across distributed services.

• Enhance the reliability and performance of mission-critical systems.

• Participate in on-call rotations as needed.

• Collaborate with product and business teams to translate customer requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Guide architectural decisions through practical implementation.

• Mentor engineers and elevate engineering standards within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in building and operating production systems.

• Strong expertise in distributed systems design.

• Proficiency in at least one major web framework (such as Rails, Django, Express, Fastify, etc.).

• Solid database knowledge, including indexing, query optimization, and ensuring transactional integrity.

• Experience in designing highly available production systems.

• Familiarity with authentication, authorization, and secure API design practices.

• Preferred: Experience in scaling systems during rapid growth periods.

• Preferred: Background in payments, financial transactions, or regulated systems.

• Preferred: Experience with implementing retries, circuit breakers, and event-driven workflows.

• Preferred: Experience working with or evolving large Rails applications.

• Preferred: Experience in integrating AI tools into engineering workflows or developing AI-powered product features.
