Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable Python services, APIs, and data pipelines utilizing Databricks and Postgres.

• Convert business and technical requirements into impactful software and AI solutions, including recommendations for build versus buy.

• Write clean, maintainable, efficient, and well-documented Python code.

• Create and uphold LLM-powered features, including prompt orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings and vector search, evaluation harnesses, and safety guardrails.

• Design, tune, and maintain Postgres schemas, queries, indexes, and migrations.

• Develop and optimize workloads in Databricks, including PySpark jobs, Delta Lake tables, workflows, and Unity Catalog governance.

• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, data quality issues, query performance challenges, and model output regressions.

• Lead code reviews and establish engineering standards, documentation, and best development practices.

• Collaborate with Product, IT, Data & Analytics, AI & Engineering, and other business teams.

• Guide software and data architecture design and implementation, including LLM integration patterns and service boundaries.

• Develop and maintain automated tests and LLM evaluation suites.

• Support deployments, releases, upgrades, CI/CD, and ongoing production operations.

• Monitor and enhance performance, scalability, security, reliability, and inference and compute expenses.

• Enhance applications, data models, development processes, and system integrations.

• Maintain technical documentation for applications, pipelines, data models, prompts, and system configurations.

• Adhere to information security, data privacy, access control, responsible AI, and software development standards.

• Mentor engineers and keep up-to-date on emerging technologies, development frameworks, and model capabilities.

• Perform additional responsibilities and engage in special projects as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be accepted.

• Over 5 years of professional experience in software development or software engineering, with substantial hands-on Python development.

• Advanced expertise in Python and its modern ecosystem, including frameworks like FastAPI, asynchronous programming, packaging, and testing tools.

• Practical experience in building LLM-based applications, covering prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings and vector stores, tool/function calling, and output evaluation.

• Strong SQL capabilities and practical experience with PostgreSQL, focusing on schema design, query tuning, indexing, and migrations.

• Experience with Databricks, including PySpark, Delta Lake, notebooks and jobs, as well as workspace or Unity Catalog administration.

• Background in developing and integrating APIs, web services, applications, and backend systems at a production scale.

• Familiarity with version control, code review, and collaborative development workflows using Git.

• Understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, containerization, and modern deployment practices.

• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, along with data modeling and ETL/ELT patterns is preferred.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

• Capacity to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, mentor junior engineers, and manage multiple priorities independently.

• Excellent attention to detail and dedication to developing reliable, secure, maintainable, and cost-effective solutions.
