This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +2 more states.
• Lead and support significant IT software initiatives and projects throughout the organization.
• Facilitate technical discussions and play a role in architectural decision-making.
• Perform code reviews to ensure compliance with best practices.
• Diagnose intricate technical issues and offer innovative solutions.
• Keep up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry developments.
• Produce clean, maintainable, and thoroughly documented code.
• Enhance application performance and guarantee system reliability.
• Engage in the complete software development lifecycle, from planning to deployment.
• Design and implement data models that promote scalability and interoperability across facilities.
• Connect disparate systems through data connections, APIs, SAML, LDAP, and similar technologies.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Plant teams to create applications that meet customer and internal requirements.
• Guide junior and mid-level engineers in technical and career advancement.
• Work alongside Accounting, Engineering, Production, Production Control, Quality, and other cross-functional teams.
• Take part in agile development methodologies and sprint planning sessions.
• Convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure the performance and high availability of vendor databases and applications.
• Acquire knowledge of systems and complete ad hoc or project tasks with the IT team.
• Oversee assigned tasks and projects utilizing modern project management tools.
• Support IT software systems that interface with physical processes.
• Participate in a 24/7 hotline support rotation during designated weeks.
• Carry out additional duties as required.
• Bachelor’s degree (4-year) in a technical field such as Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• 4–6 years of advanced technical support, implementation, and development experience, ideally in an automotive manufacturing or industrial environment.
• 3–5 years of software development experience, preferably utilizing Python.
• 3–5 years of project management experience.
• 3–5 years of T-SQL development experience, encompassing SQL queries, stored procedures, or SQL views.
• Preferred experience in installing, maintaining, and administering MSSQL databases.
• Preferred experience with equipment integration using OPC Servers.
• Proficient in Ignition by Inductive Automation.
• Proficient in SQL Server, including understanding high availability and disaster recovery options for MSSQL Server.
• Proficient in OPC, including OPC-UA and OPC-DA.
• Proficient in BI analytics tools such as Power BI, Qlik Sense, or Cognos.
• Familiarity with ERP systems like CMS, SAP, or QAD.
• Willingness to work some evenings and weekends, occasionally with little notice.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Capacity to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Capability to climb ladders or use lifts to access IT equipment in elevated plant locations.
