Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Execute all phases of the software development life cycle.

• Independently manage tasks on smaller projects and act as the technical lead on projects of varying sizes.

• Collaborate with project managers to identify operating requirements, costs, and resource needs for assigned projects.

• Co-facilitate object-oriented analysis and design, encompassing use case analysis, object modeling, and database schema design.

• Engage in application architecture planning, system partitioning, and framework design.

• Lead the development of system narratives, storyboards, and user interface prototypes.

• Create and refine detailed specifications for hardware and software design.

• Formulate and implement system test plans, uphold SQA standards, and validate alignment with business objectives.

• Generate project estimates, allocate resources, establish timelines, and manage budgets.

• Develop applications in compliance with CDW coding standards and quality expectations.

• Identify and troubleshoot issues based on business challenges.

• Make technical decisions that are in line with product roadmaps and management objectives.

• Mentor and guide junior team members while tracking their progress.

• Gather resources to tackle technical challenges.

• Direct and concentrate the technical project team’s efforts.

• Oversee the progress of the project team.

• Complete projects and tasks in accordance with stakeholder and management commitments.

• Communicate project and task status to management.

• Work closely with business and project teams to collect requirements and understand business needs.

• Participate as a team member throughout the software development process as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 7 years of software development experience, or 11 years of software development experience.

• Proficient in application development.

• Proven capability to coach and mentor others.

• Strong ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

• Advanced understanding of product lifecycle and methodologies/frameworks.

• Experience in delivering solutions using Agile methodology in a CI/CD environment.

• Advanced knowledge of object-oriented design and programming techniques.

• Skilled in building and maintaining productive relationships across departments and functions.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to senior leadership.

• Strong organizational, planning, and creative problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.

• Demonstrated success in facilitation and implementation of solutions.

• Proven experience in leading application development projects.

• Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to evolving business needs while meeting deadlines.

• Expertise in C#, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, ASP.NET MVC, RESTful Web Services, and SQL Server.

• Ability to conduct thorough code reviews and recommend automated review tools.

• Knowledge of MongoDB is a plus.

• Familiarity with Azure DevOps is a plus.

• Experience with SOLR and/or Elastic Search, Python, and Spark is a plus.

• Understanding of machine learning techniques such as clustering, decision tree learning, and logistic regression is a plus.

• Experience with both Linux and Windows platforms is a plus.

• Practical experience with Azure/Kubernetes is a plus.

• Capability to analyze system performance requirements and lead optimization/tuning efforts is a plus.
