Software Engineer II, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Decompose larger projects into manageable tasks and deliver them in several phases.

• Work collaboratively with product management, design, and analytics to discuss ideas, technical limitations, risks, and trade-offs.

• Assist in maintaining the operations and accessibility of team artifacts.

• Develop and track metrics, escalating issues as necessary.

• Support ongoing operations and on-call responsibilities.

• Engage in growth and professional development activities, including the interview process.

• Design and implement sophisticated software systems for a smooth card checkout experience.

• Construct scalable systems and experiences that enhance Affirm Card products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a software engineer.

• Proven experience in designing, developing, and launching backend systems.

• Proficiency in either Python or Kotlin.

• Familiarity with distributed systems is essential.

• Knowledge of AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes is preferred.

• Ability to produce high-quality, comprehensible code.

• Comfortable working within a large codebase and debugging code written by others.

• Experience in providing constructive code review feedback.

• Capability to design solutions that involve multiple software components.

• Skill in writing clear, well-tested, and maintainable code.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Willingness to collaborate with a global engineering team.
