Software Engineer II, Backend – Card

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Decompose larger projects into distinct tasks and deliver them across multiple phases.

• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics teams throughout the ideation and decision-making processes.

• Clearly articulate technical limitations while evaluating risks and trade-offs.

• Establish and track metrics related to team artifacts.

• Raise operational issues and assist in maintaining regular operations as well as on-call responsibilities.

• Engage in growth and development initiatives, which include participating in interviews.

• Design and implement sophisticated backend systems that facilitate a smooth Affirm Card checkout experience.

• Work alongside backend and mobile engineers, product managers, designers, and analysts to create scalable Card products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be based in Spain.

• At least 2 years of experience as a software engineer.

• Proven experience in designing, developing, and launching backend systems.

• Proficient in either Python or Kotlin.

• Familiar with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.

• Capable of writing high-quality, clear, well-tested, and extensible code.

• Comfortable navigating a large codebase and debugging code written by others.

• Ability to offer constructive feedback through code reviews.

• Skilled in developing solutions that interact with various software components.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
