Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable and dependable backend systems and APIs.

• Assume responsibility for key technical domains, including architectural decisions, code quality, and system performance.

• Engage in the complete software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.

• Review peer code and provide constructive, technically sound feedback.

• Mentor and assist mid-level and junior engineers, fostering their technical and professional growth.

• Collaborate with product, data science, and I-O psychology teams to convert complex requirements into effective technical solutions.

• Identify and proactively address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and reliability challenges.

• Participate in on-call rotations, contributing to incident response and post-mortem evaluations.

• Contribute to engineering best practices, tools, and enhancements to developer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior or leadership role.

• Strong expertise in one or more backend programming languages (e.g., Python, Node.js, Go, Java).

• Comprehensive understanding of distributed systems, API design (REST or GraphQL), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

• Experience with both relational and non-relational databases, along with an understanding of their trade-offs.

• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of a technical domain from design through to production.

• Excellent communication skills with the capability to collaborate effectively with engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience in a B2B SaaS or HR technology setting.

• Familiarity with psychometric data, assessment platforms, or data-heavy applications.

• Experience with event-driven architecture or message queuing systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).

• Contributions to open source projects or a well-developed public technical portfolio.

• Experience in a remote-first engineering environment.

• Postgraduate degree or research experience in a quantitative field.
