Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Assist in enhancing and modernizing EDI, interoperability, and FHIR functionalities for both batch and real-time processing.

• Maintain the reliability and security of underlying applications and servers.

• Address intricate production challenges and enhance systems through automation.

• Collaborate across on-premises, OpenShift, and cloud environments.

• Define and shape system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding.

• Design, develop, modify, or integrate advanced information systems.

• Improve application systems and processes for capacity, operating time, response time, and desired outcomes.

• Design, code, test, debug, and document programs, subroutines, and scripts.

• Create and execute program/system test plans and data verification strategies.

• Respond to system failures and performance issues to minimize downtime and prevent recurrence.

• Investigate software and hardware products to support recommendations, budgeting, and procurement.

• Serve as a technical expert for development staff throughout the development and implementation phases.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience is required.

• Equivalent experience is defined as one year of technical experience for each year of college requested.

• At least 1 year of experience with information technology concepts, application development methodologies, terminology, and standards.

• A minimum of 5 years in systems and programming experience.

• At least 1 year of proficient knowledge in at least one programming language utilized at BCBST.

• Experience supporting enterprise applications and Windows Server.

• Advanced skills in SQL Server.

• Practical experience in scripting and automation.

• Knowledge of FHIR standards.

• Familiarity with healthcare data and/or EDI.

• Ability to troubleshoot intricate platform and data-processing issues and address system vulnerabilities and health.

• Experience with PowerShell and AIX Korn shell.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Ansible Automation Platform, including playbooks, vaults, configuration management, and CI/CD integration.

• Preferred: Familiar with Java and related technologies.

• Preferred: Understanding of Microsoft Azure, DevOps, OpenShift, REST, SOAP, and Web Services.

• Willingness to participate in a regular on-call rotation.

• Proven skills in IT, analysis, design, and coding.

• Demonstrated success in leading large and complex projects.

• High-level technical expertise in applications systems analysis and programming.

• Capability to interpret and translate technical or complex concepts for both technical and non-technical personnel.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
