Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with product managers, scientific and clinical stakeholders, internal teams, and development/support groups to convert requirements into integrations, services, and solutions for expanding Beacon's data platform.

• Architect and optimize backend systems for data infrastructure, including PostgreSQL data models, Kafka-based event pipelines, and GraphQL APIs.

• Spearhead the design and integration of new services and components dedicated to data and event processing.

• Take ownership of pipelines that transfer dataset snapshots into the data warehouse.

• Work alongside platform and application teams to implement APIs that facilitate clinical study and digital health workflows.

• Develop features with a strong emphasis on data integrity, design quality, and maintainability.

• Prepare RFCs and lead intricate feature discovery and technical design processes.

• Guarantee accuracy, completeness, idempotency, and predictable behavior when data transitions between systems.

• Enhance operational reliability and user-friendliness through comprehensive documentation, tools, and dashboards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of backend development experience, with at least 2 years concentrated on data platforms and backend infrastructure for data-driven applications.

• Strong expertise in SQL and hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in production environments.

• Capability to manually write and optimize queries and to understand schema design, indexes, and query execution plans.

• Practical experience with data streaming and event processing using Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pulsar, Amazon Kinesis, or similar technologies.

• Proficiency in Julia or Python programming languages.

• Experience in deploying and managing services within containerized settings.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and/or Helm.

• Knowledge of GraphQL and TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js).

• A collaborative mindset.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Self-motivated and adept at flourishing in hybrid or fully remote teams.
