Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the architecture, reliability, and technical direction for a specific product surface or system.

• Deliver full-stack features from start to finish, encompassing schema design and API development through to the React user interface.

• Break down larger challenges into manageable, parallel tasks and adapt as requirements change.

• Create robust data models and dependable integrations.

• Utilize SQL to assess eligibility, claims, and quality data; develop reporting and analytics solutions.

• Execute schema and data migrations carefully, incorporating backfills, staged cutovers, and rollback strategies.

• Implement meaningful logging, alerts, and runbooks.

• Incorporate authorization, audit trails, and PHI minimization into design processes.

• Collaborate directly with product managers, practice managers, and clinicians.

• Independently manage production incidents.

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers while conducting educational code reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience.

• A four-year undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering; notable exceptions may be made for exceptional experience.

• Full-stack experience with ownership of features from the database level to the browser interface.

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, particularly on the backend.

• Extensive SQL expertise, including the ability to write and optimize complex queries, interpret query plans, and design schemas.

• Proficiency in data and analytics.

• Experience in production environments using React.

• Familiarity with Docker and container-based development and deployment.

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

• Strong skills with AI development tools, including coding agents and assistants.

• Preferred: Experience with database modeling and migration frameworks like Drizzle, Prisma, SQLAlchemy, or Alembic.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Cloud IAM, roles, and designing least-privilege access.

• Preferred: Proficiency in Python.

• Preferred: Experience with LLM-driven applications, including tool usage, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation, and guardrails.

• Preferred: Background in healthcare data, such as eligibility, claims, clinical data, HL7/FHIR, or payer/provider integrations.

• Preferred: Experience with operating systems that manage PHI under HIPAA regulations.
