This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the virtualization stack (QEMU, QAPI, QMP) and optimize virtual machines.

• Utilize features of the Linux kernel to improve the performance of the hypervisor and enhance stack functionality.

• Investigate, recommend, and integrate pertinent open-source projects aligned with product goals.

• Offer technical leadership and expertise to the team.

• Design and develop software that operates on hosts within Akamai data centers.

• Assist in recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring team members.

• Collaborate within an agile team to create innovative solutions and launch new products into the market.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in optimizing software for large distributed production environments.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.

• Experience in software development on the Linux kernel.

• Skilled in writing organized, efficient, and well-documented Python code.

• Experience in developing systems software on Linux.

• Strong understanding of Linux internals, processes and threads, cgroups, and resource management.

• Familiarity with NUMA architecture, CPU topology, memory locality, and scheduling.

• Proven experience in designing abstract software architectures from concept to implementation.

• Knowledge of QEMU, scheduling, live migrations, memory organization, APIs, and debugging is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Go or Perl is a plus.
