Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and execute software architecture for current and upcoming products.

• Investigate and evaluate third-party software packages and tools.

• Establish software development processes and coding standards.

• Assess new and existing designs for accuracy, reliability, and long-term sustainability.

• Create and develop web-based systems utilizing Java EE technologies in multi-tiered settings.

• Build front-end components, business logic, workflow logic, backend systems, and integration endpoints.

• Develop user interfaces leveraging JavaScript and browser-based technologies, prioritizing usability, security, cross-browser compatibility, and performance.

• Evaluate operational feasibility through analysis, requirements gathering, solution development, and proposal creation.

• Design and implement new core functionalities.

• Adhere to coding standards, software development methodologies, and release processes.

• Collaborate with Quality Assurance on functional, performance, and deployment challenges.

• Conduct technical root cause analyses and outline corrective measures.

• Engage in peer code reviews, offering insights and suggestions.

• Document and showcase solutions through documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.

• Work alongside QA, Project Management, and Support teams to meet customer objectives.

• Evaluate product and application information for technical accuracy.

• Identify issues and ensure that solutions effectively address them.

• Strategically plan, organize, set objectives, manage time, and meet deadlines.

• Mentor junior Software Engineers.

• Act as a technical lead and guide others' work as necessary.

• Participate in multiple projects.

• Attend both internal and external training sessions.

• Review professional publications and engage in professional networks or organizations.

• Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma, secondary school certification, or equivalent educational background.

• Over 5 years of professional experience with Java, Ruby, Objective-C, C#, C++, Python, PHP, or other object-oriented programming technologies for database-driven web applications.

• Professional experience with relational databases like Oracle or Postgres.

• Proficient in SQL or PL/SQL.

• Experience in cross-browser client-side development using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.

• Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks/libraries such as Dojo, D3, Angular, Vue.js, React, jQuery, Backbone.js, or Ember.js.

• Competence in using AJAX and JSON.

• Experience with Git/GitHub for source code version control and collaborative software development.

• Basic understanding of SOAP and RESTful web services.

• Proven success in capturing and documenting software requirements.

• Experience managing project activities through collaboration with Software Engineers, Customer Support, Quality Assurance, and Project Management.

• Successful track record of writing ad hoc SQL to diagnose customer application issues.

• Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

• Preferred: Familiarity with clinical trial processes and medical informatics.

• Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods at a stationary workstation.

• Ability to regularly lift, carry, and lower objects weighing up to 10 lbs.

• Capacity to learn and understand basic instructions.

• Ability to concentrate on tasks and responsibilities.

• Strong verbal communication skills, including listening, understanding, responding, and speaking effectively.
