This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and enhance LLM-driven functionalities on AWS Bedrock and associated models
• Create document OCR and extraction systems for clinical and claims documentation
• Implement summarization and decision support tools for clinical evaluations
• Build Knowledge Bases for retrieving information from plan and policy documents
• Automate workflows to facilitate internal team operations
• Establish and uphold evaluations for deployed AI features while monitoring quality drift
• Address production AI challenges including structured output, failure modes, cost, latency, and deterministic alternatives
• Utilize Claude Code and Kiro as primary coding tools and validate their outputs
• Design, develop, test, and deploy features using the Python/FastAPI back end, MySQL, AWS, Jinja2, Tailwind, and Alpine.js stack
• Collaborate with eligibility, accumulator, and claims data integrations with carriers and pharmacies, including NCPDP D.0 and X12 270/271 transactions
• Implement necessary test and lint gates, treating CI as an integral part of the definition of done
• Manage PHI as a key design constraint
• Compose clear specifications, prompts, and design documentation
• Work in partnership with clinical, client success, member experience, business owners, and engineering stakeholders
• Report directly to the Head of Engineering
• Engage in HR screening, technical exercises, engineering leadership interviews, business leader discussions, video interviews, and an on-site corporate office visit
• Over 7 years of experience in building production software
• Proficient in Python with experience in production FastAPI or a similar async framework
• Strong SQL skills on MySQL or Postgres
• Familiarity with AWS
• Experience with server-rendered front ends using Jinja2, Tailwind, Alpine.js, or htmx
• Proficient in Linux development and comfortable using a Windows workstation via remote desktop in a secure environment
• Daily utilization of AI coding tools for real work projects
• At least one LLM-powered feature launched to actual users, including evaluation experience
• Practical understanding of prompt and context engineering, retrieval, embeddings, and structured output
• Familiarity with healthcare data exchange standards and file-based integrations: NCPDP D.0, X12 270/271, SFTP, fixed-width and delimited formats, and reconciliation
• Clear communication style with the ability to articulate trade-offs and seek clarification
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States full-time without employer support, visa transfer support, DSO documentation, or sponsorship now or in the future
• Nice to have: experience in healthcare or other regulated data, including HIPAA, PHI, or SOC 2
• Nice to have: experience with pharmacy benefits, claims, or clinical programs
• Nice to have: experience in self-hosting open-source models such as Llama, Qwen, or Mistral with vLLM, Ollama, or TGI, including GPU sizing, quantization, and private-network serving
• Nice to have: experience in fine-tuning or adapter training on domain-specific data
• Nice to have: knowledge of classical ML for prediction or scoring using scikit-learn or XGBoost and production model monitoring
• A Master's degree in computer science or a related field is a plus
