This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.
• Design and develop internal web applications utilizing NextJS and FastAPI.
• Create and manage backend services and REST APIs that support automation tools and AI-driven functionalities.
• Collaborate with data engineers to incorporate BigQuery pipelines and metadata systems into user-facing applications.
• Lead feature development from initial concept through to production, taking charge of technical design, implementation, and reliability.
• Tackle complex problems throughout the stack while balancing the speed of delivery with maintainability.
• Guide junior engineers through code reviews, pair programming sessions, and provide technical mentorship.
• Establish and advocate for engineering standards related to code quality, testing, and system architecture.
• Contribute to shaping the technical roadmap and architectural decisions as the team evolves.
• Over 5 years of experience in software development focused on building internal tools or data-centric applications.
• Strong expertise in Python along with modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience in architecting production-level web applications using React or NextJS.
• Proven track record in designing and scaling REST APIs, particularly with FastAPI.
• Extensive knowledge of SQL and cloud data platforms such as BigQuery and Snowflake, including performance enhancement techniques.
• Capability to oversee systems from design through deployment, monitoring, and subsequent iterations.
• Experience in mentoring engineers and leading the establishment of engineering best practices.
• Excellent communication skills, especially when interacting with non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration systems like Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster at scale.
• Practical experience in developing production AI solutions, including agents, agentic workflows, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems.
• Understanding of LLM frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or Google ADK and their respective trade-offs.
• Experience in integrating OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini APIs into production environments, including prompt engineering and cost management strategies.
• Background in containerization and cloud infrastructure such as Docker, Kubernetes, GCP, or AWS.
• Experience in data engineering, pipeline design, and creating tools for analysts.
