This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deploy production-quality systems, APIs, and services.

• Manage projects from inception to completion, encompassing technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration.

• Create reliable, scalable, and observable systems that provide value to customers.

• Take responsibility for production health, including monitoring, troubleshooting, performance, reliability, and issue resolution.

• Develop intuitive and high-performance customer experiences.

• Enhance engineering speed and operational quality through automation, documentation, and continuous improvements.

• Participate in technical design for complex projects and assess trade-offs.

• Collaborate with product, design, QA, and engineering teams to convert requirements into technical solutions.

• Identify and mitigate technical debt, reliability risks, and software development friction.

• Establish reusable patterns and elevate engineering standards with input from staff and senior engineers.

• Engage in code reviews, design reviews, debugging, incident response, and operational support.

• Utilize agentic coding tools and AI-assisted development as a primary workflow.

• Critically assess AI-generated code for accuracy, edge cases, and regressions.

• Build or integrate AI/LLM-powered capabilities, including evaluation frameworks, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows, ensuring human-in-the-loop boundaries.

• Contribute to AI-accelerated development, testing, and code review methodologies.

• Convey technical context to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Develop expertise in Dex, Juniper Square's AI-native data warehouse.

• Work on Dex data extraction throughout an Ingest → Parse → Classify → Extract pipeline, which includes initial MVP agents, structured data extraction, RAG, vectorized storage, and a documentation repository.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in backend and/or full-stack software engineering.

• Extensive backend engineering experience with Python, using frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, Pyramid, or Django.

• Proficient with relational/NoSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling.

• Familiarity with cloud-native technologies like AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code.

• Strong grasp of CI/CD, observability, and managing services in a production environment.

• Comfortable working full-stack when necessary; TypeScript/React knowledge is a plus.

• Ability to deconstruct complex technical challenges and deliver practical, maintainable solutions.

• Strong ownership mentality and capability to drive projects independently while effectively collaborating across teams.

• Excellent communication skills, able to articulate technical trade-offs to engineering and cross-functional partners.

• Practical experience with AI-native development tools such as Cursor or Augment.

• Demonstrated proficiency with AI, understanding when it is appropriate to use AI tools, adapting code review practices for AI-generated code, and implementing safeguards against over-reliance on AI tools.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.

• Direct experience in building or integrating AI/LLM-powered systems in production, including RAG pipelines, agent frameworks, evaluation workflows, guardrails, prompt/tool orchestration, or model observability.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity in fast-evolving technical domains.

• Nice to have: strong expertise in data warehousing or data engineering with Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks.

• Nice to have: experience in delivering AI-forward data pipeline or warehousing solutions.

• Nice to have: ability to thrive in an early-stage, less specification-heavy environment.
