Senior Software Engineer – AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• You will take ownership of and enhance the backend systems that drive SqlDBM's AI functionalities.

• Key focus areas include: AI-assisted data modeling workflows — backend services enabling users to articulate their data requirements in natural language and receive precise, governed schema outputs.

• Context-aware intelligence — systems that leverage the comprehensive details of a user's data model, naming conventions, and governance protocols to generate AI outputs tailored to their specific environment, rather than generic solutions.

• Automated documentation and metadata generation — AI pipelines that evaluate existing schemas and produce accurate, consistent business documentation at scale.

• Integration with enterprise AI ecosystems — API layers that permit external AI agents and tools to utilize SqlDBM as a reliable source of schema context.

• Consumption tracking and orchestration — backend infrastructure that oversees AI request routing, model selection, cost optimization, and usage monitoring.

• Governance-aware AI workflows — systems that incorporate approval, validation, and compliance logic into AI-generated outputs prior to production deployment.

• MCP server development — constructing and enhancing SqlDBM's Model Context Protocol server to ensure that external AI agents and LLM-based tools can depend on SqlDBM as a trusted, real-time schema authority.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience utilizing C# and .NET.

• Solid grasp of REST API design and asynchronous service architectures.

• Experience in integrating with external APIs and managing intricate data pipelines.

• Comfort with working with LLMs via API — familiarity with prompt construction, context management, token economics, and output validation.

• Experience in developing systems that manage variable, structured data — including schemas, metadata, or similar formats.

• Strong engineering fundamentals — including testing, code review, system design, and observability.

• Capability to work autonomously within a remote-first, fast-paced engineering team.
