Senior Software Development Engineer – Testing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Analyze and troubleshoot issues related to deployments, determine root causes, and propose solutions across diverse environments.

• Design and uphold automated testing frameworks for code modifications, encompassing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.

• Develop and sustain test plans and cases for microservices, addressing pertinent scenarios and edge cases.

• Collaborate on integration testing with other engineering teams and recommend enhancements to testing environments.

• Examine requirements for secure deployment and rollback strategies, ensuring compliance during deployment.

• Author and manage scripts for automating platform service deployments.

• Streamline the SDLC pipeline from testing through deployment and validation.

• Construct and scale Service Mesh, Data Abstraction APIs, and other cloud-native platform services as a member of the Compute division's Platform Engineering Team.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5 years of pertinent experience.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.

• Proficiency in Python and Pytest.

• Strong grasp of contemporary testing methodologies.

• Familiarity with Perl and Golang.

• Experience in debugging across various environments and replicating failing tests locally on x86 versus ARM, either natively or in emulation.

• Understanding of Debian packaging.

• Knowledge of QEMU's TCG versus KVM acceleration.

• Solid Linux fundamentals, particularly in performance tuning.

• Experience with Bash and foundational scripting.

• Familiarity with automation tools and frameworks such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and SaltStack.

• Comprehension of modern software development life cycle processes.

• Awareness of service level objective monitoring and alerting.
