Senior Software Development Engineer – Test

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Develop and uphold API, integration, end-to-end, and load test automation throughout the testing pyramid.

• Collaborate with Product Managers to transform essential smoke-suite user flows into automated coverage.

• Create Playwright-based end-to-end test suites for [Product Group]'s primary user journeys.

• Incorporate test suites into GitHub Actions CI and condition releases on successful coverage.

• Take ownership of suite health metrics, including flake reduction, execution time, and reliability.

• Develop tools that turn acceptance criteria and user stories into test plans and automated scripts.

• Assess and integrate AI-assisted test generation tools into daily operations.

• Minimize manual efforts needed for interpreting execution results, validating outcomes, triaging suites, and maintaining coverage.

• Create and manage a regression test register linking critical paths to automated coverage.

• Integrate coverage reporting into a centralized dashboard and ensure its accuracy.

• Develop load and performance testing frameworks for diverse applications.

• Collaborate with engineers to establish and confirm performance thresholds prior to release.

• Ensure essential services undergo load and soak testing before peak seasons.

• Review existing test coverage, identify deficiencies, and provide test plans.

• Implement contract/API testing at significant service boundaries and pilot AI-assisted test generation.

• Enable engineers to utilize load/performance frameworks and meet Stord's Definition of Done quality criteria.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in production end-to-end test automation utilizing Playwright or a comparable tool.

• Familiarity with integrating test suites into GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD systems and setting up release gates.

• Proficient in programming languages such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or similar.

• Direct experience with contract testing tools like Pact or API testing tools such as Postman.

• Experience with load testing tools such as k6, Locust, or equivalent.

• Proficient in using AI coding tools while exercising independent technical judgment.

• Comfortable with a terminal-first, CLI-native workflow and capable of scripting tools instead of relying on GUI test recorders.

• Exhibit ownership and accountability for features from design through to production.

• Capable of articulating technical decisions and trade-offs to engineers, PMs, and stakeholders.

• Collaborative mindset, engaging in constructive code reviews and actively seeking teammate feedback.

• Production-oriented approach focused on reliability, user impact, failure modes, monitoring, and operations.

• Comfortable with rapidly evolving AI/ML technologies and tools.

• Strongly preferred: experience in establishing a test automation function from the ground up.

• Strongly preferred: experience working with PMs on acceptance criteria and defining Golden Path journeys.

• Strongly preferred: familiarity with coverage tools and leveraging coverage data to prioritize testing investments.

• Strongly preferred: hands-on experience with AI-assisted test generation tools.

• Nice to have: experience in e-commerce, logistics, or supply-chain sectors.

• Nice to have: familiarity with Shopify, WMS-TMS, or billing systems.

• Nice to have: experience with security and dependency scanning tools in CI.
