Senior Software Developer – Platform & Infrastructure Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Develop and oversee Contabo’s innovative product range.

• Make informed decisions regarding design, coding, and infrastructure aligned with product strategy and market timelines.

• Establish the business logic for authentication, virtual servers, storage, networking, accounts, projects, feature flags, and associated features.

• Provide infrastructure primitives to both customers and internal teams.

• Facilitate internal teams in constructing managed services and other value-added offerings.

• Engage in on-call responsibilities.

• Actively enhance system redundancy.

• Collaborate as a member of a new core team in a greenfield setting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience with at least one contemporary backend language: Go, Python, Java, or Rust.

• Proven track record in designing and implementing APIs as stable interfaces for infrastructure use.

• Understanding of IaaS provisioning systems: OpenStack (Nova/Ironic/Octavia), KubeVirt/QEMU/libvirt, Ceph, and LVM.

• Experience with Kubernetes or similar orchestration tools in a production environment.

• Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as KVM/OpenStack or equivalents.

• Proficient in infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Ansible.

• Background in large-scale infrastructure operations.

• Solution-agnostic mindset for build-versus-buy analyses.

• Experience with ownership across backend and infrastructure.

• Comfortable with on-call duties and responding to production incidents.

• Over 10 years of combined experience is a plus.

• Proficient in English.

• Knowledge of German is a plus.
