This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in China.
• Design, develop, and maintain firmware for wearable sensing devices.
• Establish reliable communication and data streaming between devices and cloud services to synchronize vision and tactile data.
• Architect and manage the AWS stack for the large-scale collection, storage, and processing of multimodal data.
• Create APIs, ingestion services, and Python data pipelines to ensure high-throughput and reliable processing.
• Remotely deploy, monitor, and maintain the fleet of devices and capture setups at real-world data collection locations.
• Convert field issues into engineering solutions.
• Diagnose problems across the entire spectrum from device firmware to cloud deployment.
• Collaborate with hardware, ML, and data teams to establish system requirements.
• Contribute to the testing, documentation, and continuous improvement of the data collection infrastructure.
• Occasional travel to sites may be necessary.
• A minimum of 4 years of engineering experience in embedded systems and cloud environments.
• Proficient in embedded systems and firmware, including C/C++, RTOS, microcontrollers, real-time systems, sensor integration, and low-level programming.
• Practical experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, IoT Core, and the development of high-throughput, reliable data pipelines.
• Strong software engineering skills in Python or similar languages, focusing on APIs, data streaming services, and hardware-to-cloud integration.
• Good understanding of networking, security best practices, performance optimization, monitoring, and logging.
• Excellent debugging skills across hardware, firmware, and cloud layers.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficient in English is required; knowledge of Korean or Mandarin is a significant advantage.
• Experience with robotics, tactile or force sensing, wearables, or IoT devices is beneficial.
• Familiarity with building real-world data collection systems is a plus.
• Exposure to ML data pipelines or datasets for robot learning is an added advantage.
• Experience in deploying and supporting hardware in the field is desirable.
