Senior Software Engineer – Infrastructure & Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Establish cloud infrastructure foundations encompassing accounts and projects, networking, DNS and IPAM, identity and RBAC, quotas, and policy.

• Take ownership of the Kubernetes cluster lifecycle, which includes provisioning, upgrades, addons, Gateway API, service mesh, and zero-trust connectivity.

• Ensure uniform infrastructure patterns across commercial, government, secure, classified, and disconnected environments.

• Facilitate disconnected deployment via registry and artifact mirroring, hermetic builds, no-egress artifact sourcing, upstream-free bootstrapping, and out-of-band promotion.

• Define Spacetime packaging and Kubernetes configuration methodologies utilizing Helm, rendering, or custom controllers.

• Create delivery workflows employing GitOps reconciliation with Argo CD, IaC orchestration, drift detection, OPA policy gates, and environment promotion.

• Manage fleet-scale change mechanics, including module and chart versioning, staged rollouts, migration paths, and deprecation strategies.

• Operate infrastructure, which includes availability, upgrades, capacity, observability, backup and recovery, security maintenance, and incident response.

• Collaborate with product and domain engineers to transform requirements into reusable self-service components.

• Oversee project priorities, timelines, and deliverables while designing, developing, testing, and maintaining core software.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 8 years of experience with production infrastructure or distributed systems.

• Strong foundational knowledge in software engineering.

• Proficient in automating infrastructure through code rather than manual orchestration.

• Experience with AWS or GCP is required.

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code practices.

• Knowledge of cloud networking is essential.

• Experience with Kubernetes infrastructure is necessary.

• Proven experience in packaging and deploying software onto Kubernetes.

• Understanding of the trade-offs between templating, rendering, and controller-based strategies.

• Must comply with U.S. export-control eligibility requirements: qualify as a U.S. person, be eligible to access export-controlled information without export authorization, or be eligible and likely to obtain authorization.

• Export-control eligibility encompasses U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylee status, or other qualifying authorization circumstances.
