Senior Software Developer, JCP Core Foundation Licensing and Quotation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage backend services that determine customer entitlements and usage expenses.

• Take ownership of the complete process from licensing and data ingestion for purchases to quota enforcement and recording consumption.

• Advance domain models for both seat-based and usage-based commercial plans.

• Create external integrations that utilize idempotency, ordering, reconciliation, and eventual consistency.

• Plan and implement live data migrations using feature flags, dual writes, backfills, and verification processes.

• Establish invariants, metrics, and alerts to ensure system observability.

• Design versioned, backward-compatible internal APIs.

• Enhance performance and reliability under continuous production loads.

• Retire outdated subsystems.

• Develop integration tests against actual dependencies and maintain the testing infrastructure.

• Analyze production incidents, identify their root causes, and apply lasting solutions.

• Construct a dependable entitlement and metering foundation that supports new billing models without downtime or data discrepancies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated success in building and managing backend services on the JVM using Kotlin or Java.

• Strong understanding of relational databases, including transactions, isolation levels, locking, indexing, and live schema migrations; experience with PostgreSQL is preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of distributed systems patterns, such as idempotency, retry strategies, eventual consistency, and data reconciliation.

• Practical experience with live data migrations or system modifications without downtime, utilizing feature flags and staged rollouts.

• Experience in designing versioned, backward-compatible APIs.

• Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers like Kafka.

• Ability to diagnose, debug, and resolve production incidents in complex environments.

• Proficiency in both written and spoken English.

• Commitment to accuracy in areas directly impacting finances.

• Pragmatic approach when designing distributed systems.

• Experience utilizing metrics, traces, and logs to analyze production behavior.

• Comfort in navigating and simplifying large existing codebases that contain legacy decisions.

• Strong communication skills for establishing agreements on API contracts.
